Understanding World Religions in 15 Minutes a Day by Garry R Morgan

This is a great resource for Pastor’s and lay people that want to understand about other people’s religion. When you are evangelizing with someone of another belief it’s very helpful if you have an understanding of what they believe. This book will help you to do that.
Garry has included over 30 different styles of “religion” in this book. He is straight forward and honest. The chapters are only two pages and each chapter has “An Extra Minute” section. Jamb packed with tons of information.
I am pleased to give this book a five star rating.

The Scent of Rain by Kristin Billerbeck

I like how she focused the story on the sense of smell…not typical, so refreshing.

Daphne is a trained professional “nose” a perfume creator, but she loses her sense of smell. Without her “nose” she must create using her chemistry skills. Can she keep her boss from finding out? Can you identify over 5,000 scents?

Basic love story but with a great twist, one that smells!

I am pleased to give this book a four star rating.

The End by Mark Hitchcock

This is a very comprehensive book on Bible Prophecy; it’s filled with charts, graphs, and indexes. He backs his information with scripture. I feel this will make a great resource for Pastor’s or anyone wanting to dig deeper into the end times. Absolutely no second guessing as to where his information can be found.

This is the best resource that I have found on the end times. I am pleased to give this book a five star rating.

Touching The Sky by Tracie Peterson

This is the second book in the Land of the Lone Star series.

Book One: Chasing The Sun
Book Three: Taming The Wind (available Sept 2012)

You can find more information about Tracie at her web page: www.traciepeterson.com

This book is able to stand alone…I don’t feel as if you lose any information by not reading book one first. You will need to read book two before reading book three. Some of the topics included are abuse, literacy, deceit, and tension after the civil war.

It’s 1865 in Corpus Christi, Texas the civil war just ended and people are struggling with change and acceptance. Will the people in Corpus Christi be able to come together or will they crumble? Can Laura help her sister Carissa? Will Brandon be able to gather enough evidence against Malcolm? Will Carissa lose the baby? Will Brandon and Laura marry?

I am pleased to give this book a five star rating.

Tidewater Inn by Colleen Coble

What a great read. Whenever I am able to read one of Colleen’s books I have such a wonderful experience. I will do my best not to write a spoiler.

You will find the WWJD theme woven throughout the book along with greed versus generosity.

Libby’s father recently dies and she is left an inheritance. On her way to claim it, her business partner/friend is kidnapped. Did Libby play a part in the kidnapping or is it murder? Will Vanessa and Brent ever welcome Libby into the family? Does Alec really think Libby is involved or is he smitten? Can Libby find Nicole before it’s too late? Will Nicole convince Zach to help her off the island? Can a search dog really be of any help? Does Libby finally give in and sell to investors or is there another way?

Well done! I am so pleased to give this book a five star rating.

Journeys Across Niagara by D. K. Levick

Having been raised in Western New York and visiting the Falls regularly while grown up drew me to choose this book. How very disappointed I was to find a “Christian book” to be written with such vulgarity and rudeness. I was shocked to read of the young boys in the story to actually refer to Jesus in a derogatory way. They spoke of African Americans in a way that I could never begin to describe, totally uncalled for. The boys continually use swear words and not just the standard ones you might expect to find in secular publishing. I had a very difficult time getting through the story because of the language.

Without a doubt I can’t recommend this book and since a zero star is unavailable I am only giving this book a one star rating.

I so wanted to like this book. I have spent a great deal of time at Niagara Falls and have enjoyed watching the water cascade over the edge. This is also the place where I became engaged to my husband many years ago. If you haven’t had the opportunity to see firsthand the splendor of Niagara Falls please don’t read this book, just go to Niagara Falls and see the real thing.

My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade

This story is so visible; I can see it unfolding before me. I can’t help but giggle while reading…so refreshing! I would love to see this as a movie.

Kate and Gran go back to Chapel Bluff to restore the family home. Gran hire’s Matt a local carpenter, to do the restoration. Matt is barely functioning with the large wall of protection he has built around himself.

As Kate tries to chip away the wall can Matt heal from his wife’s death? Will he recognize his need to return to the NHL and finish on his terms? Is there any chance for Matt & Kate? Will Gran and her friends help or hinder the situation?

I would highly recommend this for a book club selection from Women of Faith.

I am so looking forward to read more from Becky Wade. What a wonderful debut book! I am thrilled to give this book a five star rating.
