Catherine Richmond was focused on her career as an occupational therapist till a special song planted a story idea in her mind. That idea would ultimately become Spring for Susannah, her first novel. She is also a founder and moderator of Nebraska Novelist critique group and lives in Nebraska with her husband.

This is a debut romance novel for the author. Susannah is a mail order bride to her pastor’s brother Jesse Mason. Susannah leaves Detroit for the Dakota Territory with a marriage certificate in hand to a man she has yet to meet. The personalities of Jesse and Susannah are drastic but they play well off each other, making them an interesting couple and giving them the depth needed to keep the story moving.

Susannah’s father was a veterinary surgeon and as a young girl she would learn from him how to take care of animals. Her mother was not in favor of this. Once she arrived in the Dakota Territory her veterinary skills became necessary.

I would like to see this book become a series or at least a second book. I felt that once Jesse left and Susannah was on her own that something was missing. I do like that she became more independent and outspoken, but I missed Jesse. I have many unanswered questions about the characters that a second book could answer. I would love to read more from this author.
