As One Devil To Another by Richard Platt

Devilishly Clever!

If you love the Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis then this will be a must read for you!  Accurately Portrayed as “destined to become a modern classic.”

This story is about Scardagger a new graduate from Hell. His mentor is to guide him as he gains a soul for Hell. Follow along as Scardagger receives guidance from his mentor Slashreap and goes about gaining a soul for “His Infernal Majesty.”

Excerpt:

My Dear Scardagger,

According to the report just handed me from Temptation University, you are quite the fiend—or rather, one day, under the lash and spur of my ceaseless vigilance, you will be. It is a great joy to be handed such an accomplished pupil to fashion and mould in my own flawlessly accomplished Image and Likeness. And high time, too! (page 1)

The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck

1912 a wedding gown was created…one like no other. As this story unfolds we learn how the gown was fashioned. There are four brides that wear this gown. The story is guided along by Emily who wears the gown first and Charlotte who finds the gown 100 years later and ultimately wears the gown last.

In the back of this book you will find a note from the author. Rachel Hauck shares with us how “the wedding dress is a symbol for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It never wears out. It fits everyone who tries it on. It doesn’t need to be altered. And it’s always in style.”I enjoyed seeing this come through in the midst of the story.

I am happy to give this book a four star rating.

Hope For Parents Of Troubled Teens by Connie Rae

Great resource book for Youth Pastors and leaders!

This is a “guide” not “the” answer! Although with prayer and guidance from your close inner circle you will be well on your way through the teen years that lie ahead for your family.

As each teen is different so will the situation!

Sorry, no blanketed answers or fixes available.

Yes, this book offers counsel to parents in the midst of crisis. It is profitable for parents to read this book before their teen’s behavior becomes troublesome. It would be helpful to lessen or limit the possible upheaval your family may be entering into.

At the end of each chapter there is a “Something to Do” section and a “Closing Prayer.”

I am happy to give this book a four star rating.

Unashamed To Bear His Name by R.T. Kendall

His focus is on not being ashamed of being a Christian and the stigma involved so that we as Christians should take up our cross for Christ.

R.T. Kendall says that he was raised in the Church of the Nazarene. He is coming across as Fundamental in his beliefs.

The stories that he shares are interesting and well written. The book is just not my style of writing.

I am giving this book a three star rating.
